President Zacharia Matsela is the esteemed leader of the National Co-Operatives Association of South Africa (NCASA), bringing over 20 years of experience in the cooperative movement. Born in Kroonstad and raised in Soweto, Johannesburg, President Matsela has dedicated his life to advancing the cooperative sector in South Africa. His journey began in the Social Housing Cooperatives of Johannesburg, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become President of the South African Housing Cooperative Association (SAHCA). As the current President of NCASA, he plays a pivotal role in shaping cooperative policies and fostering collaboration both nationally and internationally. His leadership is characterized by a commitment to inclusivity, economic development, and the empowerment of women, youth, and people with disabilities.
